The CHEF Series by MAC Knives was created with professional chefs in mind, yet it performs just as beautifully in home kitchens. Its hallmark is versatility and functionality – each knife in the series is designed for a specific purpose, making kitchen work faster, more precise, and more enjoyable.
The HB-40 from the CHEF Series is a small, lightweight paring knife that, despite its compact size, delivers impressive performance. It’s perfect for thinly peeling fruits and vegetables, and its precise blade allows for quick, controlled movements. It’s one of those knives you reach for instinctively – once you start using it, it becomes an indispensable part of your daily kitchen toolkit.
In any professional kitchen where efficiency and comfort matter, the HB-40 is a must-have. Equipping your restaurant with high-quality MAC Knives is an investment in your team’s productivity — a sharp, perfectly balanced blade ensures smooth cuts and directly enhances the presentation and quality of each dish.
To keep your knife razor-sharp for years, we recommend checking out our MAC Knife Sharpening Guide, based on the traditional techniques of Japanese blade masters.
Create stunning, elegant, and easy-to-make Temari Sushi, perfect for any occasion — from a casual lunch to an elegant dinner party. The name temari comes from traditional Japanese thread balls, crafted by wrapping colorful threads into intricate, decorative spheres. Inspired by their beauty and shape, these sushi balls are as visually striking as they are delicious.
Ideal as a light main dish, part of a bento box, or an eye-catching appetizer, Temari Sushi impresses with its simplicity, color, and refined presentation.
Ingredients – Sushi Rice:
• 450 g cooked sushi rice
• 4 tbsp rice vinegar
• 4 tbsp sugar
• 1 tsp salt
Suggested Toppings:
• slices of tuna
• slices of salmon
• avocado
• Japanese omelet (tamagoyaki)
• shrimp
• cucumber
• ham
• crab or seafood sticks
• salmon roe (ikura)
• simmered lotus root
• slices of octopus
Preparation:
Allow the cooked rice to cool slightly, then mix it gently with rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until well combined. Avoid mashing the grains.
Place a thin slice of your chosen topping on a piece of plastic wrap.
Add about one tablespoon of rice on top of the topping.
Wrap the plastic tightly and shape into a small ball, gently pressing to form a perfect round shape.
Unwrap the sushi just before serving and arrange on a plate.
Serve Temari Sushi with soy sauce, wasabi, or pickled ginger.
Tips:
Using plastic wrap makes it much easier to shape perfectly round sushi balls while keeping your hands clean.
Be creative with colors and textures — layer toppings or combine ingredients to create beautiful, intricate designs, just like traditional Japanese temari balls.
