Tatsuo Kobayashi, the founder of MAC, began his professional career as a chef. This experience allowed him to deeply understand the specific needs of the culinary profession. Combining this knowledge with his creativity, he invented a knife with a rounded tip—an innovation protected by an international patent. Later, he went on to create an entire series of these knives, known as the ORIGINAL line.
The CL-6 kitchen knife from the ORIGINAL series is a moderately sized knife with a blade that tapers more distinctly than other models in the series. It is a versatile tool, useful in any kitchen. Since different tasks and user preferences require different blade shapes and sizes, our range includes around 150 models of kitchen knives. Thanks to its perfectly balanced dimensions and weight, along with a safe, rounded tip, this knife makes kitchen work easier and enables faster, smoother, and more dynamic cutting of vegetables, fruits, or herbs—saving valuable time and increasing safety. The narrow, rounded tip can also be used for additional tasks such as spreading or cleaning out zucchini flesh and seeds, leaving a hollow semicircular tunnel perfect for stuffing. The handle is made from a durable, water-resistant material and has an ergonomic shape that fits comfortably in the hand, regardless of size.
MAC Japanese kitchen knives are crafted in the city of Seki, located in central Japan—a region renowned for its knife-making tradition. The combination of craftsmanship and high-quality materials ensures that, with proper care and sharpening according to the masters’ guidelines, these knives will perform flawlessly for many years. They are, therefore, an excellent long-term investment.
